Senator Edward Kennedy is having brain surgery today to treat a malignant brain tumor. The procedure, which is taking place at Duke University, is expected to last four to six hours. Afterward, the Massachusetts senator is likely to stay in the hospital for about a week before going home to start radiation and chemotherapy.
